I love to cook with a pressure cooker….

And now my grandson knows how to use one as well! The pressure cooker used for this recipe is about $30 at Walmart.

Ham N Beans
Beans (no need to pre-soak them)
Celery
Red onion
Carrots
Better than Bullion Ham Base
Ham steaks (cut into bite size chunks)

Dice up some celery and red onion, put all of the onion and half of the celery in the pot. Add one handful of beans per person. Fill the pressure cooker up to the fill line with hot water. Spray the seal with some PAM and seal the pan. Put the metal rocker on the top. Heat the pot until it’s venting vigorously, then turn the heat down so the rocker is barely moving. Start the timer, cook for one hour.

After one hour remove from heat, cool in the sink by running cold water over it until the pressure releases. At this point I like to put this mixture into a large stock pot.Add the carrots, ham and the reserved celery. Add the Better Than Bullion to taste, I like to take some of the liquid from the stock pot, dissolve the BTB in it and pour it back in. Do this gradually, adding small amounts to taste. Medium heat to bring it to a boil then turn to low. In five to ten minutes grind some fresh black pepper in, and Enjoy!! Serve with warm bread or rolls.

Today’s Pressure Cookers are so much safer, you really do need to have one in your kitchen. If you decide to get one and need some advice let me know!
